Three service categories, one important distinction.

Georgia’s Private Home Care Provider framework recognizes companion or sitter services, personal care services, and nursing services. An agency’s actual offerings depend on its current authorization.

Companion or sitter services

These are generally non-hands-on services focused on companionship, supervision, and practical household support.

Companionship and social engagement
Supervision and safety awareness
Meal preparation
Light housekeeping
Transportation and errands

Personal care services

These services include hands-on assistance with activities of daily living.

Bathing, dressing, and grooming
Toileting and personal hygiene
Mobility and transfers
Eating assistance

Skilled nursing services

These are clinical services delivered by a licensed RN or LPN within an authorized nursing program and an individual plan.

Medication administration
Wound and catheter care
Health assessments
Other ordered nursing procedures
